1) Overview
InnoSign Player is a digital signage player that displays web content via a full-screen WebView browser on Android TV/Android devices. The app loads websites in kiosk mode and can display any web-based content, including videos, images, text, and interactive elements. The app is commercially distributed and derived in part from open-source components (Screenlit, MIT License). This policy explains what data we process and how we handle it.

innosign Player incorporates components inspired by or derived from the open-source Screenlit project (MIT). Our distribution of innosign Player does not grant Screenlit or its contributors access to your data. Our privacy practices are governed by this policy.
3) Data We Process
Depending on your setup (pure offline vs. optional diagnostics):
- Content you supply (local/LAN): Media files, playlists, names, durations, and basic metadata used for playback. Stored on the player device and/or your local server. Not sent to us by default.
- Device & app info (minimal): Device model, OS version, screen size/orientation, app version, network status—used to render content correctly and keep playback reliable.
- Diagnostics & crash logs (optional): If you enable diagnostics (e.g., a crash reporter), the app may send crash traces and basic device info to that provider solely to fix bugs/improve stability. You can ship/use a build without any such provider.
- Device identifiers (MAC address, Android ID, or composite device ID): Collected to uniquely identify devices for client registration and management. The MAC address is exposed to web content via JavaScript for integration with management systems.
- Web storage data: Websites loaded in the app may store cookies, local storage, and session data on your device. This data is managed by the websites you visit and is subject to their privacy policies.
- Device identifiers: Android ID, device model, manufacturer, and serial number (when available) are collected to generate a unique device identifier when the MAC address is unavailable, and for device identification purposes.
- App settings: URL, check interval, rotation, brightness, timeout settings (stored locally)
We do not collect contacts, precise geo-location, phone numbers, or advertising identifiers by default.
4) How We Use Data
- Operate and manage playback, playlists, and kiosk behavior (stay on top, recover from interruptions).
- Maintain performance and reliability (e.g., wake locks, foreground service).
- Debug and improve stability only if diagnostics are enabled.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect against misuse.
5) Local-First Design
The app operates on-device and typically within your local network (LAN). By default, we do not transmit your media or personal data to our servers.
If you pair the player with your own controller/management console, that system is governed by its own privacy policy.
6) Android Permissions (what they do)
Depending on your build/configuration, the app may request:
- INTERNET / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Access local servers/LAN for media and playlists.
- WAKE_LOCK / FOREGROUND_SERVICE (and possibly FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE): Keep playback running and recover in kiosk mode.
- RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: Optionally auto-start after device boot.
- SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW (if used): Keep the player visible on top in kiosk mode.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Required for Android 13+ notifications
- ACCESS_WIFI_STATE: Used to retrieve MAC address
READ_MEDIA_ (or the Android Photo/Media Picker):* Access only the media you select for playback.
7) Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell personal data.
We do not share your media with third parties.
If diagnostics are enabled (optional): crash/performance data goes only to the configured provider (e.g., Crashlytics). You can disable it or ship a build without it.
MAC address and device identifiers may be transmitted to websites you visit if those websites request this information via JavaScript (e.g., for device registration or management purposes).
8) Data Retention
Media & playlists: Remain on your device/local server until you remove them.
Diagnostics (if enabled): Retained according to the chosen provider’s defaults or until you disable/clear them.
We retain data only as long as necessary for the purposes above or as required by law.
9) Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data on the device and during local transfer within your LAN. No method is 100% secure.

10) Your Choices & Rights
- Remove media or uninstall the app at any time.
- Disable diagnostics/crash reporting or use a build without it.
- GDPR/UK GDPR: rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability.
- CCPA/CPRA: we do not “sell” or “share” personal information as defined by California law.
- India DPDP Act, 2023: we process minimal data necessary for functionality.

11) Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
12) International Transfers
By default, the app operates locally and does not transmit personal data to our servers. If you enable third-party diagnostics, their processing locations and terms apply.
13) Changes
We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date reflects the latest version. Material changes may be noted in release notes or on our site.
